Dr. A. P. J. Abdulkalam
I completed my MPhil from
the Centre for Bioinformatics in the year 2006 and I am presently associated
with Soorya Kiran Bioinformatics, an entrepreneurial venture of students of
the Centre for Bioinformatics. I did my post graduation in Botany from MG University.
I also hold a PGDCA and BEd. My current interests are in structural Bioinformatics,
with specific refernce to computer-aided drug design. My experience in this
area is from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where I worked under Dr
T.P.Singh and Dr.Punit Kaur on studying the inhibitor molecule, VARS-Peptide
for COX2, an enzyme, responsible for Inflammation. Click here to download a

Family :
I am married to Suresh Nair(Asst. Manager A.V.T & Co,Kochi) and we have
one son, SOORAJ studying in Primary School in Kochi.
Teachers:
My mother was my first teacher. My father always encouraged me to do things
of my own which, I believe, made me bold. During my school days my biology teacher
Annamma inspired me to enter the world of life science. Prof C.M. Mathew inspired
me a lot during my PG studies. I have gained a lot to teach students effectively
from Sr. Sophy, during my studies for BEd. The training under Dr. Achuthsankar
S. Nair at the centre for bio…. has led me to higher levels in scholarship.
Dr T.P Singh have further given me exposure to the rigors of world-class research.
